MO firearm Deer Season opener
« on: November 13, 2009, 12:43:33 PM »
Is tomorrow.  I'm starting to pack and trying to figure out what I will forget :)

I'm not much of a Trophy hunter... I'm more of a meat hunter.  If it wasn't for loving fresh venison, I'm not sure I'd ever go deer hunting.  I'll take some turkey calls with me to pass the time.  Camera will be loaded and ready to shoot any willing birds that cooperate  RkLu

For all of those in MO that will be hunting, best of luck to you!!!!  To any other states that start or are getting ready to start, best of luck to you too!!!  Hope we can fill the board with a lot of stories and photos in the next couple of weeks!!!!

I'm just glad I do not have to deal with gators, bears, or any other man eating animals while out hunting!!!!!  ROTFLMBO  ROTFLMBO  ROTFLMBO

I just hope my .460 S&W is able to land a powerful blow to a deer or two this year *up*

Arkansas modern gun season opens tomorrow but I am tagged out from blackpowder and archery season. My son is coming home tonight and I will go with him and see if he can fill his second buck tag. Good luck to all going deer hunting tomorrow and be SAFE!!

Well no deer, but I sure did call in 30 birds with my new longbox from the SS boys.  That walnut/maple combo had them going crazy :)  I had 10 hens a measly 10 feet from my blind.  It was funny.  At least 4 toms were to my right fighting for 20 minutes.  This area had just been logged and I was right beside some downed tree tops.  I couldn't see but 2 of the Toms but they were fighting purrs like crazy.  It was a great day in the field.  Saw close to 20 deers and couldn't ever get a shot.  They were hauling mail when I saw them.  I do not shoot at running deer.

I did see a nice buck that someone had wounded.  Poor thing couldn't walk on it's left front foot.  He wasn't bleeding and I couldn't get a shot at him.  I walked the woods for 2 hours trying to find an ounce of blood.  I felt terrible that I couldn't take him down.  I'm assuming (with no blood) that someone had shot him low in the front leg.  I wish I would have seen him sooner :(  I figure the coyotes will eventually get to him.  He's hiding in some pretty thick and nasty stuff!!!!

Well here is my Kill from Yesterday. I got her at 30yds just after sunrise. I sat up in my stand a bit and waited ..... Saw a nice 8pt a 4pt and a spike after I shot the doe. Unlimited does where I am hunting so I thought I would get the meat in the freezer and hold out for a bigger buck the rest of the season. She was a big girl at 145lbs dressed.
