Shannon banned me from the OG.
It said that I didn't learn my lesson.
No warning .

I guess that the lesson is that if you make calls, you have to pay Shannon to post there.
I was given no warnings and only rarely post there.

And where people can voice their opinion, give HONEST feedback and not worry about disappearing threads, or getting banned because of it. We are all adults here, it sure would be nice to be able to have adult conversations. Seems like this site has lost several members due to censoring, even as recent as a few days ago.

Great words indeed, adult converstion by adults, right on, I am with you on that one. But when things go south and people are attacked then I am not with you on that part. Just go back to the simple basic rules list on this forum on how and why things get pulled or people get banned (Cross those norms). You never know who or what is next!
So here are the 5 golden rules (of course at any time we may have to add additional ones!
1. Absolutely no personal attacks on individuals or other forums! This will not be tolerated in any manner! Be nice. This is one of the rules that will have no warnings for being banned. Cross the line and you will be gone!
2. No profanity! Keep it clean and fun!
3. I will give one warning for anything out of line. After that, no excuses. Let's have fun and be friends.
4. Internet Proxies are not allowed. Osage Roost will not approve any accounts coming from known Proxy sites.
5. Have fun, but stirring the pot for a knee jerk reaction, or the berating and/or the belittling of other members will not be tolerated!
6. Unsolicited Advertising is prohibited!
7. Abusive PM's are not allowed nor tolerated!

A site is a good as its members that's it not a lot to debate on. If everyone would drink the Kool aid it would all be roses and rainbows. People are going to disagree and some members are going to just not like each other for any reason but their own.
Being a moderator is a thankless job been there done that don't think I will ever do it again. I never ban a person and I am glad I didn't after what was done to me.
Some moderators need to sit back and just let the current(what ever the issue of the day is) problem go and allow the member's to voice their opinions in an appropriate manner. If they do need to step in do it to be none partial manner no matter if they are friends with one side or the other. But to just take down post with out explaining why it was done does nothing but make members upset and talk behind the scenes. Be open and honest to the whole community just not censor a thread because you chose to
Then there are some moderators can not handle all the power of being able to ban and or delete posts. They get a power trip from being one. They go way over board on it and have members hate them due to it.

One thing can some one check and see if I am still a member on OG Shannon changed my password a long time ago so I couldn't log in and wouldn't return my phone calls.This is after I was a mod and even went on a hunt with the guy. He will lie to your face

Not spam but another board, Doug at Gobbler Nation has a really good idea.. There is a hidden board for long standing members with a certain number of posts.. In this board stuff like whether a member should be banned or thread be pulled or new board areas and rules are discussed.. Thus he nor the 2 moderators he has makes rash decisions.. Essentially alot of the decisions are placed in the hands of members of longstanding and thus have the most stake in the forum itself.. It goes a long time between threads but when a board is having issues like this board as of late it is a consideration.

I just think its silly the amount of censorship that goes on here now. If someone posts a call that sounds like hammered dog *poo*, it does nobody good to not give honest feedback.

Mods are for the open forum. The Anything Goes is not moderated and people can venture in and discuss topics without them getting moved, or the user banned.
As for your last comment, you are correct and that is where i spend the majority of my time. At one time, this was where i hung out primarily.

Is the goal to improve the sound of one's call? If so, blowing smoke isn't helping anyone. H3ll, we might as well make this emoticon ( *up* ) mandatory for every response, when discussing sound and looks. Everyone gets a trophy! *up*

They took one of the public duck site forums in one of the states and did that. Works out quite well. Invitation only.

I think another motto should be, "Do not start a fire among a bunch of pyromaniacs unless you have the water to suppress the flames"
I credit anyone with the Kahunas to post a soundfile, Matt Van Cise could post an anonymous sound file on some boards and get flamed.. But some of the soundfiles I have heard posted makes me wonder if the guy has ever heard others run a similar calling device or even listens to turkeys.. Its not only sound files but guys will post videos or stories about crawling behind a decoy and shooting a gobbler bragging or taking excessively long shots bragging and believe everyone is gonna sit back and pat them on the behind.. Folks surely cannot be so naive???
Like the above motto if you are going to post something that has a high probability of being met with criticism, don't post it, be prepared to defend yourself, or have thick skin..

Its your sandbox and you have the right to do what you want with it. But also the members here helped you build this sandbox don't you think you should listen to feedback to improve the sandbox

I don't post a comment unless it is truthful from my standpoint, i.e, Nice looking call or sounds great. I know some of the other posters will post thier negitive thoughts of a subpar (in thier opinion) call or it's sound and thats fine for them. Please don't make something out of the simple statement I have posted. I don't blow smoke or as Grandslam so eliquently put it, Kiss sack. We attract what we put out to the world and I prefer to accentuate the positives when possible. Often I think, what would Jesus say. If this makes me less of anything in anyones eyes you are entitled to your opinion. May God bless us all.

That wasn't necessarily directed at you, but rather the whole idea that we should all be toting pom-pom's on this site. The reality is, a forum that is nothing but pleasantries, flat out sucks. If you can't be honest and call a spade a spade, the value of the commentary becomes far beyond watered down.

If we can give advice in a pleasant way, as not to demean another I am all for it. I received advise from a Great call maker once who came across a bit crass but, that was my interpetation. Turns out he was a little upset at the time with himself due to me being a new callmaker at an event we both were set up at, and he was getten spanked. We have become friends and he admitted his attitude was due to his disbelief of the way things were playing out. If we place ourselves in the other guys' shoes before we give a knee jerk response to something we dissagree with or think does not stack up to our own thoughts or ideas of what is, we can control the response much easier. IMO

While we're deleting rules, rule #1 needs to be gone. It's obvious that the mods allow certain call makers to get drug through the mud, while seemingly standing in line to give others a reach around.

It's obvious that a few members are just sticking around Osage Roost to try to cause as much havoc as possible on here. There's not going to be any rule changes.... Baglicking commits are alway welcome... Respectful exchange of conversation is always welcome too. This may not be the perfect site for some... But most of us like it the way it is, before all this up roar.. Some don't agree with the way we are handling things. Well, You should have taken this thankless moderator job when some of you had the chance to. We are working hard to try to restore the camaraderie among members here who share the same passion of Turkey calls, Callmaking and turkey hunting. To restore this site to the happy place we all want to be apart of.

I think that depends on who you ask. For some, they were instrumental in getting this site off the ground and hope it will become a better site. And some of those folks no longer post here, or post rarely, for some of the very reasons that have been discussed in this thread.
For others, they stay here because it sucks less than the other alternative.
For some, they have made friends here and use this place to buy and sell calls.
I think this situation is no different than what West Augusta posted to begin this thread, while discussing the other site, when he said "I guess that the lesson is that if you make calls, you have to pay Shannon to post there". Many folks share that same view about that site, but remain there.

I have had to bite my tongue so much in the last month it is rediculous. I LOVE this forum , why??? Because we dont allow any bashing, bad mouthing or beratement. I have developed many many friendships through osage roost, and some wll last a lifetime. The true core group is made up of respectful members who understand that if you dont have something nice to say...dont say anything.
For those of you who have spent the last few weeks trying to tell us that this site would be better if we run people in the dirt and allow you to say anything you want to and spend all your time trying to dismantle this awesome forum, I say .... try starting your own forum where all that is allowed . You will start no new friendships and you can lick anything you want to. I have reached a pooint where i am sick of the SMALL group of small-minded folks who are intent on destroying this site. It is time to flush the toilet and get some of the poo off the membership list. We have enjoyed several years of great cameraderie here for a reason , and thats because we all try to get along. My opinion is that if you dont like it here...DONT LET THE DOOR HIT YA WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YA. I would vote that we ban anybody intent on bringing this site to a negative place. Sorry to rant but anyone who thinks we will improve this site by allowing the poor behavior that you want , needs to start a new forum where you can bash each other , have no rules and lick to your hearts content.
Did I already say I love this site and I think we have some of the finest members possible. The time has come to take a stand against those who would undo this great place.

I guess that depends on who's being bashed. I've seen certain call makers get dragged through the mud with no recourse and others always are offered up protection. Does that sound fair to you? Shoot, in one instance, a mod was involved in the mud slinging. To say that every call maker on here is afforded the same amount of respect and protection is absolute garbage. To say otherwise is an outright lie.

The callmaker you refer to NEVER had anything constructive to add here. The only time he posted was when he chose to badmouth that other callmaker. If you dont have anything positive to bring to the table then move on to something else. Ronmexico , you are on that list too. You never add anything positive, you only seem to enjoy stirring the pot with controversy. Guess what, the rest of us are tired of reading all the negative stuff. If you dont like it here ...move on . FLUSH , SWIRL...GONE.
Anyone who wants to bring this site down should be banned. And everyone who thinks we will improve this site by allowing piss poor behavior , you are wrong ! Osage Roost as well as OG do not tolerate that garbage and thats why these are the two best forums for turkey hunters. I sense some positive changes coming but they dont involve uncontrolled discussions and unmoderated behavior.

When I have had to recruit a youngen to help me sand calls in a pinch I tell them this:
We strive for perfection, all the while knowing it is unattainable. That usually gets my point across in a brief sentence. Have had those that thought rounding the corners to thier specs looked better than what the sample given to them was. It was thier last day in the shop. If we cant follow directives AGREED to, why participate in any venture or activity? Your way is not nessesarily the best way.

I would suggest re-thinking that, it is obvious, it is not True. I have seen call makers ran through the Mud, and the Mods allowed it.
Bob, You should be 1 voice of many, by stating and acting the way you are here, it seems you seem to think you are separate, or have more voice, than other members, all should be equal, and we all know, it is not that way.
Let the Moderators Moderate, as it should be.

Lets get rid of the bad apples so that the rest of the basket stays fresh.

Bounty hunter, I made no statements saying my voice is stronger than any other member. I just happen to have the guts to stand up for whats right and wrong . I love this forum and i will take a stand aganst anyone who wants to ruin it. You got one thing right, let the moderators moderate , quit telling them how to do it. I think what few that are left of the original 10 that started with ole Porter back on day 1 would love to see this site like it was back in those days. Everyone felt they belonged and everything was positive. A bunch of turkey hunters that liked nice turkey calls. Real simple. There were several cliques back then instead of just one. Each person had a place they fit in. Porter may have appeared to be a scatter brain but he sure had a way to keep everyone happy. I hate to say it but he is pretty smart guy. *lol* *lol*
If a person has been banned from this site already and somehow got back on here or if they have been banned from every site they have been on they are probably a trouble maker looking for more.
Some people I know left the site got banned and other reasons. I thought you at one time left the site also. I maybe wrong on this but I recall reading a few post with you as a guest.

I left on my own and came back when Jeff asked me to. I was gone about a week. Sorry but I have not been banned from here, OG, Sunnyside, CCO, GON, or any other that I know of.

From what I have seen Frank has not been out of line on OG. I think Shannon has given an open invitation to callmakers who left for whatever reason to come back if they would like. He told me he has a list of known troublemakers though that does not have that invitation.
See that's a lie right there Shannon ban him back in the day that's a fact. There are several guy who where mods that can verify that. Shannon would brag about banning him saying quote "I got rid of the biggest cancer in the turkey call world"

Sorry guys I had this locked due to a couple of texts. I had to rush into work and I didn't think I'd be working all night *fall*
I would say the majority of peoples opinion are the same about Frank on this site. I've watched him call me ever name in the book and do the same to a lot of my friends. He's probably been banned more than anyone else too.
For OG's sake, I hope it works out.
My opinion, grab a chair, sit back and watch the show.
