What will be interesting and why I am interested in all of this is IF TAMU goes to the SEC, there will be one or three more additions.  These additions will come from the Big 12 and/or the ACC.  The ACC not wanting to be left behind in the conference championship game will then raid the remaining Big 12 and or the Big East.  The Big East and Big 12 will no longer exist. College football as we know it is about to change.  Then, what about basketball.  The Big East has many basketball only schools. Will this be the straw that finally breaks Noder Lame forcing them to join a conference?

basketball is of little concern to most, me included.

as for the real issue, are they going to jump to 14, or 16 teams?  no way to tell at this point and a lot of it will depend on who the sec goes after.  if the sec goes after a&m and then goes and get's mizzou and vt and possibly nc, things could get interesting.  it was mentioned this morning that clemson and fsu going to the sec is highly unlikely, as you really aren't getting anywhere, as it relates to new markets.

lots of things are at play here and it is going to be real interesting.  will texas end up an independent, or will notre dame get lured into a conference?

This will not force Notre Dame to join a conference, be cause you do not have to be in the same conference for every sport. Just as Notr Dame is independent in football, and in the Big East in basketball. Texas will do the same just as BYU did.

I hear that VaTech isn't allowed by state law to leave without Virginia.  Not sure but that's what the boards say.

VaTech would be the prize though, moreso than TAMU in my opinion.

i had heard the same about a&m last year, that they were tied to texas and that the state was going to get involved, but who knows.

va tech would be the prize in terms of what you are getting from a football standpoint, but a&m is a bigger prize when it comes to new t.v. market.

will be interesting to see.  their hand might be forced, as it relates to bcs invites...

I think in the coming years your going to only see about 4-5 Super conferences, one will be in the west- mid-west- south- east - north east. Them maybe they can do away with all the bowls and finally get a true playoff system in place.

Why do you want playoffs and do you feel that actually crowns a true champion?

that would depend on how many teams are involved.  for starters, it's garbage that an independent school, like notre dame, can pick and choose who they play and then compete in a bcs bowl.  secondly, if the two best teams were from the same conference (sec would be a good example), as it stands now, one team, which is possibly the second best in the country, is going to be penalized for losing in a conference championship game.

they also need to get rid of pre-season rankings, because they are a joke.  no poll should come out until several weeks in.  rankings in august are good for selling magazines and that's it.

Anything more than 4 teams is garbage. Most years the top 4 teams could be interchanged in the rankings. If you go to an 8 team or even 16 team playoff then it becomes laughable. 2 years ago Georgia Tech finished ranked 8th, meaning they would be in a playoff for the national championship in that type system. Anyone who argues that they belong in a play off for the NC has no business discussing the issue. I do agree that the pre season rankings are a joke. If you create a 8 team or 16 team playoff then the cards are still stacked against teams from the SEC.

Do you feel the BCS actually crowns a "TRUE" champion?  I know the BCS doesn't crown a true champion. If that were the case Florida and LSU both would have one less title. A playoff might not be the answer, but it is better than the BCS. At least in a playoff the teams take it into their own hands, not waiting on a bunch of guys and a computer none the less to decide the fate of the teams. JMHO

Didn't say the computer or the BCS was the answer. But a play off does not "decide" anything on the field. If team A plays LSU, Auburn, MS State, and Florida as their final games of the season. Then team B plays Nevada, San Jose State, Utah State, and San Diego State as their final games. Two weeks later there is a playoff and team A and B meet how is that crowning a true champion? How is that considered a level playing field? Look, I'm an ultra competitive guy but a playoff is not the answer to the problem. People say that it's not fair, tough crap, life ain't fair. If Boise St. TCU and the like wanna be taken seriously then do it old school style like FSU and Miami and play anybody, anywhere. Simple as that. A playoff does not crown the best team, it crowns the hottest team of the moment. Look at The NCAA basketball tournament, UCONN was not the best team last year. Go back over the last 10 years and the best team has not won the title but once or twice. Until the little fellas decide to go on the road and consistently play the big boys then they should be happy that their football game is on TV on Wed., Thurs, and Friday nights.

Boise St. Has said they will play anybody anywhere anytime. Nobody will take them up on it. Many SEC schools have openly said they dont want to play them. They have said their conference schedule is tough enough, they don't want to play someone like that in the non conference schedule. You will see one or
Two them every now and then play a tough game like that, LSU/Oregon, Ole Miss/BYU, for example this year. But for the most part they won't. What would be your system to
Crowning a true champion? Just curious.

Boise St. will play anybody anywhere IF you pay them a tidy sum. That is with most teams. It is nearly impossible for some teams to get quality out of conference opponents.

The " tidy sum" can go for any school. They are not going to go play for nothing. Any school in ANY of the major confrences make enough money to pay Boise State, or any of the others to come play them. If they don't want to pay them, go play at Boise State. Don't get me wrong, I'm an SEC guy thru and thru. But these major conferences complain about the "non-BCS" schools being ranked real high and having a shot, but they won't play the GOOD non-BCS teams.
