That first gobble of the season
« on: March 25, 2017, 06:52:48 AM »
I've had a rough month of March, but nothing like getting out and hearing the first gobble of the season!

They are hammering here in MO and today is a crappy day!

I know TN youth season starts today, so best of luck to all the killer youths out there and hope for a very successful hunt!

John Kent, one of my "pro staffers," called in birds for a friend on days one and two in South Carolina, then one for himself on day three.  Says he wishes I could be out there!  They are henned up something fierce here in North MS and you don't hear them much after flydown.

I haven't heard one yet in 2 days in the National Forest and 3 days on a beautiful 1150 acres pretty much only hunted by me.  What is stranger still is that I have heard only one shot in five days of hunting.  Things don't look good in Southwest Mississippi.'

Yep, I'm with the MS boys - it's been rough so far down here in southwest AL, with more hens than I knew existed.  Hopefully, they finish up with the ones they have and come looking for me before May 1 . . .
