I agree:  Grits are analgous to Dickens gruel !!!!    Where do grits come from anyway??  How are they made...and why?

If you eat 'em because you think you are supposed to......You're NUTS!!!!!

Oatmeal trumps grits.....EVERY TIME!!!!!!!

Grits are made from America's first grain - CORN! Nothing bad about them, except Yankees not knowing how to cook them!  ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO ROTFLMBO

Did a little research:  Grits are made from hominy...corn with the hull and germ removed...doesn't seem very "gritty".

So, I guess    Grits = Corn For Sissies!  (Buck up boys....Eat real corn!)

L-Wes, I've did my research at the table a 100,000 times at least! They are awesome! Anybody who don't like Grits is in need of some serious taste bud transplantation! Grits....The Breakfast of REAL MEN!

It seems the epic battle continues. Grits for those in the know, and porridge, gruel, musilage, oatmeal or cream of wheat for those who won't relocate from the frigid north. Must be related to brain freeze (damage)?

Actually, the best grits are stone ground from dried whole kernel corn. Those are the ones I eat. Lots of folks have only had "sissy" or instant grits which bear little resemblance to the real deal.

Ok....Coarse ground whole kernel corn....corn meal, right?  Are you guys calling corn meal mush grits?

It would appear that liking grits is an acquired taste....kinda like bourbon.   I'll take the bourbon; you guys can have the grits!

Sounds good......I love oatmeal and usually just add honey and a spoon full of peanut butter mixed in too. Good Stuff.

And this Yankee loves some grits too! When I lived down in NC I ate grits like no tomorrow, with cheese and some salt/pepper in it. Mmmmm good!!!

No grits are not corn mill! They are the staple food of the South. I love me some cornbread too. Take hot cornbread and crumble it up in a big glass and pour over sweet milk or butter milk and "Heaven Came Down And Glory Touched My Soul".
I have probably ate enough grits and cornbread to fill 2/3 of the Grand Canyon!
