The lathe can be intimidating but I got my worst injury from a belt sander and learned never take any power tool for granted...I really enjoy turning on the lathe though (once I got past the initial qualms) and it sure works better than the drill press! I even made miniature bird house ornaments for the girls this past Christmas..always something new to learn..it's very addicting though I have to warn you..Lol
