First time for everything

  well I wasn't going to post these cause I'm far from a call maker just had two great teachers I had the opportunity to go up to Jeff makamey an frank kruers this past week an can't thank them both enough cause no doubt they both got a few laughs at me lol...  Oh can't forget ole Brent stoner I'm sure he did to lol. But none the less I managed to get out of there with out breaking anything or loosing a finger haha.. The first two are bloodwood an black limba short box an the long box is blood wood an butternut.   Next two are a walnut an poplar short box an Ipe an butternut long box.
It was a great experience for me and I'm very grateful.

That's awesome! I've talked to both of those guys since and it sounds like it was a lot of fun for everyone. I'm sure they had plenty of fun at your expense!! Congrats on some awesome looking boxes!! Two better teachers couldn't be found!

Those are REALLY NICE calls. Well done. I admire so much the veteran call makers who are willing to share their skill and insight with other guys. What an experience. It looks like you've been at it forever.

You certainly had good teachers the calls look great. The next question is how did Jeff have you tune them? He has three phases ya know Bear , Pheasent and Turkeys. Nice work on the calls.

Congrats Neal !! It was a pleasure to finally meet you in person. Jeff and Frank build some mighty fine calls. I'm just glad I was there to fix those calls before you left

well---first of all Neal---welcome to the illness 
Getting to know ya and your love for turkey hunting and turkey calls made it a no brainer to have ya over to get a taste of making a box or two. It was great sitting and talking about Frank and Brent while we worked.....
Just have one wish for ya friend...that ya get just a little faster in making them.....your wife may not have the patience to wait for ya....
I can see ya making quite a few and I sure hope the fire stays in ya like it showed while we were working. Making calls if fun, and a obsession for me, but the real joy shows on a first timers face when they hear a box they actually made make a sound.
Jon , we changed up a bit on this box from bear and pheasant tuning, to coon hound......
He is the moment when Neal first heard his box make some sort of noise...its great to see the surprise and grin...

Jeff you already had him worn out by the time he got to my house.  It was a pleasure to work with him. I think he has the sickness for sure!  looking forward to seeing what he will make of it. Good luck Neal and I think we tuned your calls to call in raccoons.
