This forum has been neutered to the point that it is completely useless. Honest, 2-sided discussion is obviously not welcome here any more. I'm disappointed and...I'm out.

What has taken place on this forum is an unbelievable to me.  Many people throwing mud at each other and acting like children either on the forum, PMs or emails.    Maybe its this winter weather and everyone is cooped up to long and have nothing better to do.   I for one, am in the process of re-evaluating my position here and if I want to be associated with all this.  As far as the call competition, not one that is not a call maker has provided a solution to the issue or to the best of my knowledge ask to volunteer their expert talent in judging.  Reform is needed in the process and I will send the NWTF my recommendations and hope all that have their issues do the same.  I was looking forward to going to Nashville and having a great time.  Now the severe weather probably will prevent that from happening and that may be a blessing.  I will render my decision probably by this weekend if I am staying here or not.  I hope everyone finds something better to do, for me I just want to go turkey hunting and enjoy the outdoors. The friends I have made here will still be my friends.

Sad to have Mike leave this forum

This forum was started due to censorship and call makers not being treated equal. They left that forum and started this one due to that situation. Now it seems that this forum is going the same way

I may be following suit with MKW
I thought you would be bigger

I certainly dont want to see anyone drop out from this site for any reason. The thread in question started out discussing apples and turned into discussing oranges instead. Then through a couple peoples agendas, it turned into a judge bashing session and accusations about wrong doing . I personally judged about 300 calls last year and though I knew a few of the callmakers, none of them won. I have never heard of or seen any judge who got free calls or any payback from friends who entered. We all go into it with open minds and judge as impartially as possible. Is the contest perfect?? Heck no, but it is run as best as possible by a large group of volunteers who dedicate their entire weekend to making it happen.
I dont see where ending a topic that is only headed south is censorship. Open 2 sided discussions are great as long as they are productive and kept friendly. This topic stretched beyond that and its time to move on to better topics like spring turkey hunting.
Lets keep this site friendly and fun, thats what brought us here and why so many have remained members for several years.

I've seen a lot of discussions go from apples to oranges and none were moved.  Obviously some people have guilty consciences!!
We keep losing members and pissing even more members off because of questionable MOD behavior!!!
BigTom said nothing wrong in his one post and was banned and that thread was left up as an example.  There was a good open discussion an calls and the NWTF and it got moved.  Why?

When Mike and others started this forum it was because of the censorship on other forums wasn't appreciated...now this place has become worse!!!  >!!

Mike sorry to see you go but I definitely understand your frustration!!  Take care bud.   *cheers*

Not sure what all is going on here and don't want to know either.  All I do know is the site has lost some good members and there are those out there who would make great members but are reluctant to join.  This site never used to have these type issues.  Over 10-12 yrs. I have watched several good sites go to heck over various issues that could have been resolvable and avoidable and its sad to think this wonderful site could be headed down the same road.   Hopefully things will get worked out for everyone.

Sucks to loose MKW, he is a stand up guy and valuable participant.  Sad....---Jason

Mike has always spoken his mind. Right, wrong or indifferent, it's what he believed;and, that's what I've always admired about Mike. I can't fault someone for that. We all have differences in opinions. A man should be allowed to voice his opinion. When a man ask for constructive critisim and gets it, there is no need for people to get upset. We just need sometimes to agree to disagree! Seems like lately there has been an awful lot of threads moved or locked down.

Mike you and I have voiced our opinions on quite a few sites in the past and in cases we had to agree to disagree in some of those cases but I am 100% with you on your current views in the above post.
I'll say it like I hear it in phone calls and see it through PM's ------->  "There is entirely too many bag lickin post around here!  If you disagree with or have different views than the merry "little" click then your post are deleted or the entire thread!
Apologizing:  does not always mean you are wrong and the other person is right.  It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.

The fact that the call comp thread got yanked is a joke.  Musta hit too close to home.

I'm just curious, why do you think it's a joke?  Because Stoner's a judge and y'all were bashing him (and the other judges) with no real merit to do so, or is there facts out there that prove the judges show bias, or is it just the perception of some people based on the guys that win? I honestly don't know, that's why I'm asking.  I know if I was a judge, took it seriously, and tried to be as unbiased as possible (which I assume the judges do, because I have no reason to think otherwise) and there were people bashing me for no reason, I wouldn't want it up on a public forum either.  If you (or anyone else) were a judge and it was you (or anyone else) who was coming under fire do you think the mod's would have left it open for you to be bashed and criticized, I find it hard to believe they would.   Just because someone who wins might be friends with a judge doesn't mean they should be criticized for choosing that person if they truly felt it was the best call entered.  I don't have a dog in this fight in any way, shape, or form, I've never entered my calls in a contest (maybe one day I will to see how judges THINK they stack up against other competitors) and I've never met anyone on this forum (except for Austy, who lives down the street from me), I've exchanged PMs and texts with, or have bought calls from probably 50-75 guys on this forum on both sides of this conversation. Please don't take this post as being for or against one side, I'm just trying to make sense of it all and get facts straight and if there's something I'm missing please inform me.  My thought on the comps is this, 1) We all have different opinions of what a call should sound like; a call I used to kill a bunch a birds might have a sound that Austy, or McKamey, or Al, or Stoner, or Rickey doesn't care for, and that's ok, we all look for different things in a call and we all hear things a little differently. 2) When I read the "why do callmakers build" thread, I don't see a single response that says "I build calls to win ribbons."  Everyone gave a much deeper response, whether it be their way of combining their love of turkey hunting and art, a connection to someone they met, or simply "to kill turkeys." I know, personally, I would much rather have 100 pics or stories from customers of dead turkeys than a materialistic medal or ribbon.  If a call aids in someone taking their first turkey, or a very significant bird in their life, then the call and call maker has had a greater impact on that person than any medal ever could and I think all call makers share this thought.  If you're a call maker and have good customers and your calls have been used to kill birds but your salty about not winning a ribbon then maybe you're building for the wrong reason, just my opinion.  I hope this post doesn't offend anyone, as that's not at all my intent.

Like I noted earlier this board was spawned due to Porter, call makers and collectors wanting not to be censored like what was going on the other board(I can not mention the forum due to the rules)
It just happens the judging calls was the one that made Mike leave. What is sad he was one of the first 20 guys to join here and now he is gone due to the censorship. I in no way think it should be a no holds bar of bashing but then again I think you should be able to voice your opinion in an appropriate manner.

A few weeks ago there was a thread yanked that I spoke about a call makers call not sounding good. I was trying to be respectful and not bash the person. It got pulled. What yawl don't know is now that me and this person became friends over this. What I am getting at is you need to be open and honest to all people and by censoring all we do on here is just making us as bad as the forum we left
I thought you would be bigger
