I started with this new style, mainly because I think it is more field durable than the paint. I will still make em' with paint, but more for the deco calls. I'm open to opinions good and indifferent. The top call is capped with deer antler , and the second is capped with Black Ash Burl and blackwood

Great looking calls.

They look clean as a whistle Steve., New style for you, you mean ??
Only thing that might concern me Steve, is the thin-ness of the wood at the Transition area'
That get's thin there, prone to crack, when ya file or sand it to match the outer bone diam it get's thin-thin.
I have had no problem with Hard wood such as the ash, but the softer woods would worry me of cracking over time, because some have, before I ever sent them out.
I know they get fragile there, exspecially when you come in the back side with the other bone.
Your transition looks alot thinner, than AJ's or KP's, or mine either, because you have gone to the bones diameter, I just worried of the thiness of the wood transition's strength when I build em like that.
They look like your painted joints almost, cept ya changed the paint for wood, do you make them all the same length, and just glue em up, or do you tune them ?
Nice clean looking calls, just as your other bone calls.

Spur, Yes it's new to me. I didn't claim to reinvent the wheel here, just added my own style of tread to a wheel that's been on the road a while.
I won't go into detail on my techniques , but the wood is not thin at all. The bone is much thinner than the wood. I sort of tune them by looking at the bones before I make the calls. I've made enough that I can get the sound and playability I am looking for from experience.
