2000 rifle buck
« on: September 24, 2009, 01:55:06 PM »
I remeber it had been raining all night the night before the rifle opener in 2000. my dad had took me to my stand and he was probably 3-400 yards away. a little while after shooting light i caught something out of the corner of my right eye. there was a big buck just about directly underneth me. i followed him around the tree with my head slowly til i couldnt see him anymore. i waited a few seconds and turned to my left slowly and waited for him to get a few yards from my tree.BOOM he ran into the thicket.

we could not find any blood at all. so i got back in my tree. my dad was going to circle around and try and push him out of the thicket. 10 minutes later i hear "Dylan...... YOU GOT EM" the bullet just blew up inside him.

I almost had a shot at this buck on a super cold windy day in archery season but i could not get him to stop.

He walked not 2 feet from my tree with my backpack next to my tree... ya gotta get lucky sometime :)

No respect should be given to a man who does not honor his word. He is just an adolescent who's acorns haven't dropped yet.

Those who stir the S**T pot should have to lick the spoon.

2000? you were a mite younger ,,,,,,,that makes it even FINER!

When I was that age there were NO deer in or near our neck of the woods . Our big game was Red Fox. Country was covered up in Quail & Rabbits,,,few Pheasants.
Now the quail and pheasants are gone ,,,coyotes have put a grand hurting on the foxes and whistlepigs. Plenty of deer and turkeys there now too.
