Kentucky doe with longbow
« on: October 02, 2011, 08:38:35 AM »
It was a little chilly today. Had deer moving all morning. Had a doe come by out of range early and watched as she moved on a buck following her. I then heard some crossing the creek and then this one appeared to my left always staying behind cover. It finally moved to 25 yards and I shot slight 1/4 away. The arrow hit the far side shoulder. I was able to see the deer go down.

I called my wife and had her get my jr. tracker out of bed. I met him and took him to where my stand was on the tree then where the deer came from and where it was when I shot. Sam (9 yo) did a great job following the trail all the way to the deer and even found the broken arrow. He did not like the field dressing but was ok with the processing. He is also the camera man for me.
