Crow call Guess the wood?

I got this wood from a friend in Mississippi he sent it to me to try out on a call.
This call is headed back to the gent that sent me the peaces.
It was a fence post he didn't know how long but its way old.
 It has 40 or more growth rings..Turned like butter but hard as a rock..

Looks like Yew wood or possibly Douglas Fir...or..Cypress.

I know what it is but if I said I would be cheating cause I have already seen this call and had my thoughts confirmed. How did it smell when you turned it? I have worked with this stuff before and would agree it is or can be hard as a rock. Sure makes a nice looking call.  *up*

Smelt like what it is *lol* the finish on it is just a few coats of wax...Cause nothing will penatrate into it..That is a hint.. *dance*
