I just got back from my opening week trip to NC.
I killed a good one on Saturday opening morning (21# - 10-1/2" thick beard - 1-3/8" sharp hooks).
On Monday morning at 10:20, I called in two good longbeards. My buddy and I both connected to get the first double we have gotten together in NC. These birds must have been brothers, both were identical, ( 20# - 10-1/2" thick beards - 1" spurs).
We hunt the high mountains where there is still no foliage yet. The steep terrain and no cover makes for a real challenge.
The weather was absolutely beautiful the first three days, then everything went sour. Temperature dropped almost 40 degrees with rain and high winds.
We hunted hard the rest of the week to try and fill my buddy's last tag. We came close a couple more times, but passed on unsure shots.
Thanks for lookin',
Timbo.
