I think there was quite a controversy in the Jordan yelper (hunting div) competitions. According to the guy doing the argueing, the calls were supposed to have a wingbone mouthpiece. The first place call, along with three other calls that received ribbons, did not have a wingbone mouthpiece. I don't know if they ever settled it to his satisfaction.

The first place call, along with three other calls that received ribbons, did not have a wingbone mouthpiece. I don't know if they ever settled it to his satisfaction.

I caught that right when I saw the pictures. It's a pretty poorly written in the rules, and I suppose it could be argued either way. The "consistant with Charles Jordan style Yelpers" was the part that swayed my thoughts.  I will say that it kept me from entering one of mine into that catagory because the mouth piece wasn't bone..

include 1 wing bone mouth piece, the 2nd and 3rd sections can be any material other than wing bone
consistent with Charles Jordan style yelpers.

A jordan yelper is 2 pieces of cane, a .223 shell casing at the joint of the mouthpeice and middle section and a hen bone mouthpeice. No offense to any winners in the Jordan division but allowing turned wood acrylic etc. is in a better lack of terms unfair to those that make a traditional jordan yelper and it gives an unfair advantage to those that can turn wood. . I believe those with turned wood should be in the catagory with turned trumpets and the jordan division should be for traditional jordans. I won't pay the entry fee for the jordan division any more. There is no way to compete.
