WOW!! Thats a MONSTER!! It may be a Red Neck thought but " I'd got that dude mounted" LOL
well,,,,,,,,,,,,the rest of the story goes like this.
Cabelas had opened the new store in St Charles. I know the fisheries biologist in St Louis. He had told me they were looking for a 70 plus pounder to put in their tank. I called the man responsible for the aquarium in the store and he wanted the fish but couldn't pick it up on Sunday. I took the fish and put him in a big stock tank with the rest of the fish we caught that day. to make a long story short, the urea from the fish urine poisoned him and he died before they got there. After talking to the biologist he explained to me why and how I have to fix a filter to keep that from happening in the future. Bummer but it still tasted good! As far as mounting a blue, when it gets to 100 lbs, then I'll think about it. After we get a freezer full of blue fillets then anything over 50 goes back in the water. Big blues are getting harder to come by as every year passes. We may release everything over 40 this year. Don't get me wrong, I have kept every fish I've caught in the past. I'm not trying to be a hypocrit just changing my ways a little.
