Man can I borrow your dog after you train it :)  That's a cute lil puppy there.

Have to pick your brain on how the training goes  *cheers*

I can't wait to hunt my dog this fall, he's been doing good so far at almost 7 months now. He chases all kinds of birds....the Robins don't stand a chance in the yard. He actually started barking at them already, but not always, just about 2 weeks ago he started that, I was surprised. I took him for a walk in the woods behind my cabin over the 4th of July, I spotted 3 jakes as I was walking up the hill, Gage was off running to my far right. I called him back and took him to where I last saw the one Jake, he got on the trail, but the birds were long gone by then....either way it was fun. He is starting to range out further and further every time I take him out. I'm going to be taking him late Aug/Sept to "Run with the big dogs" and learn from his daddy Luke with Pete and his pup Cash which is Gage's sister. Here they are, this way back in March, he is much bigger now, about 40+ lbs and "wide open"!

Marlin - hope to meet you one day, heard alot about you, I got a call off you a few years ago, its a good one, fiddleback cedar/walnut.

Great looking dog Rob

Thanks Hobie, yours is a great looking dog too! Is he crying much at night? Mine did for about a week, but I crated him and he stopped after a while. Just remember to be consistent with him. Are you crate training him? No matter how much he cries, don't baby him and hold him every time he does or HE WILL TRAIN YOU! Good luck with him, and follow what Richard Wolters says in the Gun Dog book, he knows what he's talking about. I'm sure Mr. Byrne told you about letting him know who the "Alpha Dog" is, because once he grows up some and stops being helpless and dependent, he will test you. Fall will be here soon enough...... *up*

good looking pup. pete had told me you were getting a puppy from the last breeding before this one. luke and jenny are both great dogs. love to have you come over to pete's when i'm up there this fall. i'll be asking some help from mike to post some pictures of cutter when i get some made. she has been the perfect puppy so far. myra called keekee the puppy from "h" so she is enjoying this one. we drove to virginia two weeks ago so she could pick a pup out. then my friends and i drove back at same time as hobie and picked her up. best of luck. sooner

Sooner - I will make it a point to stop by Pete's when you are there this fall. Yes, my dog is also the pup from "h" at times. He is getting big and decided to "help himself" to a slice of pizza off the counter the other day when I wasn't looking. I wasn't to happy cleaning up sauce everywhere....he only managed to get about 1/2 the slice down in no time....sneaky, the "nose", as we sometimes call him smells everything. He only has 2 speeds....wide open and sleeping! ;D   It's all good though, he's fun to have around!

real glad to hear about about your pups and its good to be in the roost *cheers*....i have a 18 week pup that will be five months during the NY season ive been training him since hes been born... he made one bust and is really starting to show good skills ....when he hits the scent he gone and hes not afraid to range....hes doing alright at sitting but the puppy is still there.....ive run him alone and with my other two dogs ....they range so he can only keep up so far , he just needs to grow alittle more .....ive been filming his progress....for a training video.....it will cover every thing from A to Z....it will also cover hunting techniques ....with some action packed hunts.....yesterday i ran my pup Curly with his mom Dixie lou my friend dave cazz was filming and we drove to where he had seen scratchings...as soon as i let the dogs go dixe lou took off and soon started barking she went along ways i figured  she was on some long beards .....the pup took off and after while came back,,,, dixie kept on and found another flock with hens and poults....after while she came back.....we set up to call some birds back they started to call so i kee keed a few young ones in ....then we moved to another spot where i called in a long beard and a big hen dave got the hen but ran out of film for the gobbler oh well!!!....what a great action packed day and good training for my pup....and dixie lou ...some times if she sees a turkey she whines alittle ..... the E collars cures that in a hurry.....even older dogs need brushing up ....
