The Slippery Slope
« on: May 19, 2010, 09:09:13 AM »
Romans :1-4, 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

As the apostle Paul taught about God's grace, some of his listeners asked this question: "Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?" Paul replied like this: "Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives" (Romans 6:1-4).
Living the Christian Life is like Climbing a steep slippery hillside. You must keep struggling, fighting or else you will end up back at the bottom. Sin has a way of pushing us back. Sometimes we find a flat spot and stay "I think I will just stay right here", because it is comfortable, not effort or struggle. But this is the most dangerous place of all.

When we are cold we want to get warm! When we are down we want to get up! Moving constantly toward God is the only way!

Paul wrote: “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.” (Philippians 3:13-16 NIV)

Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
