well by the second day of hunting I still had not shot a Rio, so what to do? Only one thing, time to slap some chalk- some chalk on a box that is. Some may call it a short box, some a fiddle box, some may say its a yellowheart over sitka spruce, there are those who would say its a true yellow yelper, but to me its " little marlin " no matter what you may choose to call it, for sure you would say its a true turkey talker. So on the 2nd morning the "guide" and myself head over to a lil spot where we had heard some birds the day before, and had seen them in a field around 9am but couldn't put a move on them due to the fact it was jus impossible. So we set up before daylight, and just like you read about- hit the harrison hooter

, so we just sit down, 5 minutes later out comes the secret weapon (which i'll have to post some pics of, its a big ol glass call from a truly great friend and call maker Mr. Glen M of Finger Lakes) and

. So we just sitn and waitn everytime I'd scratch the glass

, and
believe me I'm no turkey caller, it was all the big glass, so this goes on and on till around 8:50 the "guide" makes a call or something on a mouth call and a bird gobbles right behind us i reach down grab lil marlin do a little cuttn before i can put him down here comes ol mr red head, comes in on a string looking for the big glass and lil marlin. He comes in to about 40 yrds and thats all she wrote the BPS barked the nitro went boom and the turkey went flop. So here we are one down one tag to go, I think at this time the "guide" figured we were done, i had other plans, so we sat back down I knew there were more birds. Well the "guide" had gotten up, call of nature an all, so before he could even get sat back down I picked up lil marlin again gave him a few good wacks and no sooner than i had put him down, look up and here comes 3 more red heads lookn to see what all the noise was about, here they came on the same string, a few little clucks on a slaton mouth call along with some soft yelps, let those boys know right where the other end of the string was tied. So the "guide" and i had a plan he shoots the 1st bird I shoot the second and well the 3rd ( it didn't get that far ), so "guide" counts 1,2,3; well I'v been duck hunting in south louisiana 1 to many times,
+ had hunted with Rickey the eveening before so I shot on 2.5 ok maybe on 2, down goes my bird and off go the other 2 the "guide" forgot to load his gun, so here are 2 long beards at least 70 yrds away looking back 20 yrds at their friend flopn wondern whats wrong and where did that lil marlin bird go

, well "guide" gets his gun loaded (most people due this prior to the birds showing up)

looks at me to hear " hopes and dreams " he shoots and down comes a hand of the turkey gods 1 bb to the neck at 70 yrds

, wouldn't belive it if i wasn't there myself. So the count goes from 0 to 1 and then to 3 in a matter fo 12 minutes with alot of help from

Mr. Glen M, Mr. Marlin Watkins, and Mr. D. Slaton- Thanks guys couldn't have done it without you, and thanks to Jim and Rickey for a great hunt and good times.
