We just got back and had a pretty good hunt. Four of us killed eight gobblers. I also killed a deer this morning on the way home about 5 miles out of camp. Not sure which looked worse, the deer or my front end.
The gobblers were henned up and not wanting to come to a call like usual. In four days hunting I did get in range of about 10 gobblers. I had to belly crawl and sneak on some of them. I am way too old and my back is not in any shape to hunt like this anymore.
We killed 3 gobblers in the 25 pound range, 3 in the 22 pound range, and 2 in the 20 pound range. My son's bird had 1 1/2 inch spurs, 11 inch beard, and weighed 25 lbs. this was my 4th year to hunt this place and have already committed for the same week next year.
