revenge
« on: April 12, 2010, 05:51:35 AM »
Finally got out this Sat morning.  Hunted these bird this past fall.  Got revenge this morning.  24 lbs. 10 inch 2 year old.  I went out opening weekend and called for a soldier and his wife (I carry no gun). I called up 5 long beards, he got got busted on the second one and she said she had no shot on the other, all of the birds came to within 25 yards of us.  She has missed birds the last 2 years hunting with me and now I think she afraid to pull the trigger. Next time I'll set right beside her.  I should have done this in the first place.

I finally got to hunt by myself Sat and was parked about 200 yards from the end of this deadend road and had 2 knot heads drive up about 6 am saying we are going to the end I asked WTF you think I wouldn't go after one down there.  They didn't seem to care. After a few more choice words they drove off but I had been there early, before 5 am and had heard this bird gobble once at an old Owl and I just went after him before they could get out of the truck and figure out that he was up there.  Got up even on the ridge with him and he flew down about 150 yrds out.  After a few yelps and playing with the leaves there he was. Was back at the truck in an hour.  I just don't understand people like these 2 guys.  This area has about 2000 acres and they only let 8 hunters in there.

Congrat's on a fine gobbler.

I've ran into my share of those guys hunting public land.   Guys like that with no ethical values or respect for others are not turkey hunters.   The're just out there to pull the trigger.

... very cool of you to call for your friends Richard - 5 birds within' gun range is a successful hunt(s) in my book ... *cheers*

... on your solo hunt it sure sounds like you still got the best of 'em, & the best of that fine Gobbler to boot - congrats on your successful hunt & your great 2 year old bird ... 8) 8) 8)
