anyone tried the atom broadhead?
« on: September 04, 2009, 09:28:48 AM »
i was given a couple and they fly great.  i have heard some positive reviews, as well as negative.  i spoke with someone who hunted with them for carribou, as well as all the other in his hunting party and all 5 of them killed one.  i shot mine into a target (block), to test the accuracy and although they flew great, the blades were all bent when i pulled it out.  has anyone hunted with them or tried them?

That's an interesting design, but one I've not ever used.  If the blades bent shooting into a target, I don't think that would give me much confidence...

it was on arrow removal that i had the issue.  but yeah, anytime something like that happens, it makes you lose confidence.

That looks interesting! If I still hunting I would try it!

Hi Ron,

I personally would stick with the rage 2 blade, or the Grim reaper 3 blade .   There have been a number of test (comparisons) done on that rage 2 blade and it has been rated #1
Outdoor life did a review and rated it #1.  I have shot bucks with both of these broadheads and they are Nasty!!  I do like the Rage a little better. 2" cutting diameter and it comes with its own practice head.   tough to beat that
Family made calls since 1987

Tried it two years ago............very disappointed in how it failed in my McKenzie target. Lost one complete spring/blade and the other was so bent it would not stay in place. Makes one wonder just how well it really works on game......particularly when bone is encountered!
