Good For The Soul
Genesis 27: 1-4 "1Now it came to pass, when Isaac was old and his eyes were so dim that he could not see, that he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son.”
And he answered him, “Here I am.”
2 Then he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death. 3 Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me. 4 And make me savory food, such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”I remember Saturdays hunts before stepping into the pulpit on Sunday mornings. Sure I loved to hunt. But there is something special,, something personal about being in the woods encompassed by God's creation. Many sermons were born in a tree stand or behind a blown over tree top. I remember one day in particular. Hunting on the edge of the atchafalaya basin just outside Baton Rouge, LA. It was surreal among the cypress and the bayou!. A Paragon Falcon, a Raccoon mom and 2 babies, An Opossum, A BIG Alligator, dozens of Deer, A couple of Turkeys, And many more of God's Creatures. What a day.
As you prepare for opening day, remember to take time to look around and realize what a wounderful thing it is to commune with nature.
After All God Created It For Our Pleasure!Psalm 96:11-12 says “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy”Good Hunting
