Dymondwood replacement

Good news folks, there is a company that is just starting up that is making a similar product to Dymondwood.  They don't have a retailer set up to sell cut blanks but are actively working on getting some.  I am trying to get a few samples.  They say their test results are very similar to Dymondwood.  If you are interested in contacting them here is the email and phone number.  Don't look for their website yet.  The company is so new they haven't had time to make one yet.

The Webb wood uses thinner veneer than the Dymondwood on the right.  It doesn't "ping" like Dymondwood.
I'll spin these up this weekend and compare them and let you know.

I talked to Cliff this evening and he tells me that the veneer start out the same thickness but are "pressed" thinner in their process that makes the final product much denser.

It doesn't turn too bad and doesn't have the plastic smell of Dymondwood.  I think it may just work but need to finish hollowing the bell before I can be sure.

I finally made myself a Webb wood striker.  I had to send the first one back to Webb wood.  Small price to get to be the first to turn their product.
This one is mine and I'll give it a good run against my Dymondwood striker and see how it stacks up but right now I like it.  It isn't the same stuff but then the process is different.  It is slightly softer which gives it a good bite on a pot call surface.

Looks great and looks great. I got one diamond wood striker and do not really like. The shaft is too short. I like your striker design.
