There a lot to be said to sitting and calling- but until ya bust a flock up in any manner, you are missing the intense turkey talk you will hear if the fall with a flock trying to get back together

I had one opportunity to bust the flock while driving and missed the moment. It was still pretty exciting though as I was able to call in the boss hen by herself. There was a lot of talk between her and the rest of the flock. I over called her and made her mad. When the rest of the flock flew in they landed just behind my set-up. Which tells me that they thought I was her. But anyway, I didn't know that they had come in and they busted me. It's definitely different than spring hunting but very exciting and interesting.

Brother I am happy you saw them. I scouted Green Ridge the Thursday before the season came in and found some after about 5 hours of steady looking. I never saw them just heard them on the ridge top so I left them alone. I never found them again. One thing I did notice this year was ACORNS, it's a bumper year. I saw whites and reds everywhere. There is certainly no shortage of food this year.

That's were I went, to Green Ridge. You are correct about the acorns, they were everywhere. That was the first time that I have hunted such mountainous terrain. Those inclines nearly killed me.  :ghost:
