Gobbler strategies in the fall

Is there any tips and tricks to getting a gobbler out of the fall season or is it just patience, patience, patience?  Fall season is certainly different than spring but was wanting to pick your brains on how you all bag those fall longbeards.

I've never just focused gobblers in the fall, but a trumpet or long box would be the first call I'd grab to go after one.. ok who am I kidding... a long box is what I'd use.  Gobbler yelps, fighting purrs, and gobbling has been successful.  Have to know what you are calling to if you want to bring them in.

Many more experts in this field on here.  Hopefully they'll respond on their tactics.  I wish we could use dogs here in MO:(

Lots of boot leather to start.....gotta find em first..then see, if they are on a pattern of any sort....

    A deep sounding gobbler wingbone is hard to beat in the fall to deal with those fella's.....

    The patience factor is another important item, that comes into play,  when dealing with fall gobblers....

When you guys say "gobbler yelps" what are you referring to exactly?  Is it just a low sounding yelp, is it aggravated and agressive?  I have never harvested a bird in the fall, so all of these fall strategies are new to me.  I did call in a nice big flock last fall for my wife, but we couldn't execute.  Im all ears.

hun10, calling to birds in the fall is a lot of fun... I have had great success calling to birds in the fall. I set-up near where I know they are roosting and wait for them to come back to the general area.  Once they get in sight, I then go to work on talking to them.

Hey it's easier if I call and demonstrate it...  You going to be around tonight?  It is a lower yelp and for some reason the darn words won't come to my mind on how to explain it *aah*

I agree.  Its a blast!  Especially having all those birds around.  One thing for sure, you have to be ready.  Kelly found that out the hard way.  Do you have success in harvesting gobblers in the fall DForbis?

  www.lovettwilliams.com  has audio tapes....One is for fall calling....

  Denny Gulvas from PA. make a 2 hour video, that explains all the fall calls, as well as taking you to the woods to hear and see the turkeys themselves doing the calls. I recommend this tape to anyone, who wants to hear/see it all in the fall.

Is Gulvas' fall video VHS only?  I'd love to find it on DVD but I've not seen it.. just curious as it rocks!!  Might watch it tomorrow again for like the 5th time!

Sorry......VHS is the only available source to view it...


Well I may have to convert it to DVD then...  Luckily at work I have all the equipment to do it.
