Thanks for all the kind and generous words. It's a real honor to fall in behind the local Eminence call makers that have been making callers for generations. Without their encouragement and guidance  I would not be making callers today.

Dave, it was neat to sit with you the evening before and listen to your story about he call and then to see you win the next morning--Congratulations.

1 point separated the top 3 contestants. I had 194, Don Bald was second with 193.06 then 3rd was Don and Sara Clark 193 it was so close on the score between us. There are 5 judges and the high and low scores are dropped out. That leaves three judges. They score 20 points for eye appeal, 20 points for craftsmanship, 20 points for originality and 10 points for sound. For a total possible high score of 70 points As you can see the top three calls were extremely close. It was a crap shoot on who won. I am excited just to be able to compete with them. They have been making great callers for several years. The fourth place call even scored 179. It was a tough class. I think the theme and sound were the little edge that helped me over.

Anyone who picked this call up and ran it will have to agree it is worthy of carrying to the woods!
Yes the theme and wood burning was a home run even more than usual but what always impresses me with your callers David is that they don't leave your shop unless they spit feathers!
I would have loved to see the smile on Dan's face when you stop by and show him the pictures above.  Congratulations again and it was nice to see you at the convention...

I agree 100% with you.  Not only does David do a fantastic job with his looks, they will all kill birds.  My wormy butternut/osage one he didn't dr up since I was telling him they are too nice looking to take out in the woods.

I wish I'd been able to see this one in person!  Just never made it down there :(

Thanks John and Mike,

I, by far don't make the best sounding or easiest playin caller, but if it don't sound like a turkey then it is useless as a turkey caller.
