it was an off cut from a shotgun stock....with nice marble figure .....probably near the crotch....

Thanks Matt...it was what looked like marbling grain that threw me off...actually I had a gun stock in mind, but I don't know anything about turkish walnut...once again it sure is beautiful.

That's a really beautiful piece of wood Matt.  I have a few pieces of English Walnut with exceptional figure and the wood is very similar to Turkish Walnut.  It's a lot better to turn than Black walnut.  Has a good sound too.

thanks Danny....you should try turning some as well....It is a little harder to get but is really nice to turn and finish....I'm building a ebony comb for my daughters trap gun...did one out of cedar as a model first.....

That is one of my favorite woods. I like it. You got any more of that wood. Is it hard to get.
