We just got back from our hunt in Texas/Oklahoma. The Texas hunt turned out to be a 1 1/2 day ordeal. Our "guide" pulled a disappearing act after the first day. We think he was embarrassed by how few birds there were in the area. When we got out of the truck to hunt the first morning the temp was 38 degrees with the wind blowing 40 mph. We hunted in that stuff about all day. David managed to kill a gobbler the second morning before we decided to leave there and go to Oklahoma.
Here are some pics of the gobblers I killed in Oklahoma. It was a tough hunt to say the least but the turkey gods smiled on me and it seemed wherever I went I had a gobbler within or close to gun range. After I killed my third bird I sat back down where I had just shot and called again. Within 10 minutes another nice gobbler was within 20 yards of me. I had the FF2 red dot on his head and watched him walk in front of me for 5 minutes. He walked off never knowing I was there.
One of my birds had 1 1/8 and 1 3/16 inch spurs. They all had 9 1/4 to 9 1/2 inch beards.
