1st bird of the season
« on: April 19, 2013, 01:06:18 AM »
Opening season finally got here in Ky and I scored on the 2nd day.  It was played out just like in the books, called out and he came struttin across the field some 125 yards away--stopping every now and then to let out that infamous gobble.  I had taken several calls with me opening weekend to play around on the farm with but on sunday this bird liked a few in particular, one being a clark-it one sider, a marlin one-sider and a bullock special trumpet that didn't make it thru the day but did help seal the deal on the gobbler...sorry Tim--but it does show that it got some woods time in.  Thanks bud.  The bird weighed in at 21 lbs, sported a 10 1/4 in beard with 3/4 in spurs.

Jeff, on Saturday I had a nice gobbler that loved your limba/walnut call but the 3 hens he was with...well I recon they had something else in mind for him and he just wouldn't pull very far from them  *lol* .  He did strut his stuff for me and put on a show--but in the end..there was something those hens had that your call was lackin.   And I haven't been able to get ahold of those "other ky boys" so when your done with steve just let me know!!!   *gobble* *gobble* *gobble*
