Macy's First Turkey
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:55:06 PM »
My daughter Macy got her first turkey on Thurday 4-11-13 at 2:45 PM. The big jake came into the call with 7 other young gobblers. Macy took him with her Remington 870 Youth 20 gauge. I used a Antique Bald Cypress Box from Jeff McKammey, Quartersawn Osage Bronzed Glass from Daryl Slaton to get there attention. After I saw them coming I talked them into coming in close with Hook's Mouth Caller. I had them all 8 gobbling in our face. When one finally seperated from the others. Macy asked if she could shoot the one on the right. I said yes. She point the gun at him and rolled him at 35 yards. She was so excited and happy. We gather our gear and she carried her turkey out of the woods and I carried her shotgun for her. She is still on clound nine. This hunt would not have been possible if North Carolina had not had a whole week of youth turkey season.
