My Fall Hunt

I was honored when Marlin Watkins invited me out to his place for my first out of state hunt and my first fall hunt with dogs.

All the rumors of Ohio being flat was proven wrong and keeping up with Marlin, Gary and Bubba was fun. We hunted hard only to find we had to hunt harder. Watching the dogs work was a blast. Keeping track on GPS?? I had no idea how much that helps in knowing what the dogs are doing. 100, 225,........358...... they are on birds..... I was told. How cool is that?
One time the birds were about 300yds closer than we were hoping and proceeded to walk to the edge of the hill, pitch off, lock their wings following the lead bird and they were gone.....
Got into a couple of breaks but the turkey gods were not with us that week.

Here are a few pictures.

I did end up getting a bird here in Pa, called in with my Watkins longbox of Bloodwood over poplar....my first with a longbox :)

Thanks Don for the experience!!!

Denny
