"A Box of Wood"
« on: September 07, 2012, 04:58:13 PM »
My buddy Tim Scott (Gbblr-Killer) pm'd me last week and said that he was sending me a "box of wood". This intrigued me as Tim has sent me boxes of wood before. A box of Ammond from his grove and a box of Cherry. Both have made some fine strikers. There was another box this summer that the USPS needed more as neither has seen it. Well, this "box of wood" arrived today. A beautiful longbox made of "River mined Cherry" from Florida with a Purpleheart lid. Tim, the high gloss finish is perfect. It does make the Cherry look great. And folks, this dog will hunt. Left side is a higher pitched young hen while the left is a deeper, very raspy older hen.

Tim, this really caught me off guard. Thanks my friend and remember that no good deed goes UN punished. *lol*

This year I have grown an appreciation for longboxes. This one has made it into the rotation.

Sure is good to have friends ah Steve :D, especially those who build calls and this looks like a sweet one.  Oh, BTW, I know a pile of Black Locust firewood when I see it too!

I have two of these from Tim, he has the forth. you could say we have Quadruplets This piece of wood was headed to one of my floors when I pulled it off line it was 6"X 2" X 48". It was all figured like this! I called in two birds with Tim last fall with its twin!Dead and done in a Dbl bang.
The purple heart just adds to the sound and beauty!it was from a pallet send in with 1/4 sawn cumaru on top.
