A Gift!
« on: March 25, 2012, 01:05:27 PM »
Well, sometimes you have one give to you,and this morning the turkey gods give me one back.
Pretty uneventful morning...Heard A few at daylight way off,but nothing after that...So I walked around,to the back, around the swamp, and most of the roads on the lease...Called A few times, but got no response.so I headed back to the truck.
I was walking and calling on my mouth calls, (I got my new xtcalls in the mail yesterday, and love em!) and was just about to put em up,when I heard A PUTT!!!....Im fifty yards from the truck, and can see it!...About that time,A big red headed longbeard walks between me and the truck!...I get the bead on his head, and by that time he has cleared the truck!...I pulled the trigger and he starts to flopping!.....I cant believe it!
This was truely A gift!

18 1/2 pounds
10 1/2 beard
7/8 spurs

Nice...What's the old saying "I'd rather be lucky than good"...but you must be good to call him up to your truck..Congratulations on a fine gobbler *ride*

Congrats. Dave glad you left him clear the truck , I know a fellow that had that experience but got excited and shot too soon. He gave his brand new Ford 4x4 two loads of 10 ga. no.# 4's and the gobbler ran off!

Awesome Dave!  I was just talking about that scenerio with my cousin.  I said I would shoot my truck and deal with the damage later,  *lol*
