Reminds me of a few years ago . The boys and I were headed toward the truck late in the morning . We hadn't worked a bird yet on that day . We got about 300 yards from the truck when this bird started gobbling hard and often . He was dead between us and the truck . I wanted one of the boys to kill him so we moved in perty close , him gobbling all the while . I did some calling and he just went nuts but would not come over the hump . I left the boys there and backed out and away calling as I went . I made it about 75 yards and just happened to look back to see the bird running hard ,,,the other direction . I returned to the boys and found out this older bird came running down the hill and chased the youngster away and then ran back up the hill. Time expired shortly afterwards with no chance to do anything but laugh at the show . I look at it as a time of learning more about those Wild Eastern Turkeys.
