We'll several of you have asked why we haven't had a Spring Turkey Contest. I'm not one that likes being a follower, so I decided to pick the brains of three of the mighty fine members here and come up with a Contest that is fair, a lot of fun, and will provide a whole lot of trash talking (we have to rib each other to make this fun *lol*)
So here's the scoop of the first ever Yellow Roost competition!
Judges of the competition will be the following three bird hammering members!

letinmfly
We all recognize these members and they are extremely trustworthy and will run a very fair contest.
Rules are as follows
-minimum of 10 posts
-1 bird per member as entry
-scoring will be beard length(s) x 2 plus length of each spur x 10 will equal your total score for the bird
-pics of bird showing beard length and both spur length plus date bird was killed must be submitted
-teams will be randomly picked and size will be determined by number of members entered
-Judges are and will be in the contest
-Name the states you plan on hunting in
-Not every members birds will be counted in this competition (We'll explain later going to keep it fun and fair :) )
-Must sign up by February 11th (we are working on the closing date to be fair with everyones season)
Signup in this thread and let's have some fun!!! We like to be different here and I think we came up with a contest that will dare to be different!!! Prize will be bragging rights for a year and either hats or shirts for the winning team compliments of OsageRoost... I'm thinking pink/yellow *lol*
Now I'm just glad I'll be hunting with ole Darleen and No Nets... I have an opportunity to hurt their chances *peep* Unfortunately, my team might suffer as I've had a MS Hex put on me... I hope I can break that Hex!

Phil, i'm techno stupid . Question then..Can a guy use his celphone to take a picture then send it to someone who can post it for them...? Thats how I have to do my call pictures.. *cry* Just a thought

I'm In. Sounds like a lot of fun with a great bunch of turkey hunters. Glad it did not mention weight, since those Mo. birds have some lead genes and if we kill a bird between 22 and 23lbs East of the Slash, he has maxed his genes out.

They start chasing these Shannon County birds in March. They have all the old smart longbeards ducking for cover before Bob Harwell shows his face on the calendar! What about a handicap?

That gives me a little more incentive to find that 4 yr old smart bird that got a little lead in his craw last year by some Mississippi boys!

I'm in! I am planning to go back "home" to Arkansas this spring and do some hunting and (fingers crossed) think I have locked up a spot here in Illinois that has never been turkey hunted or even had someone even call to a bird and it's loaded with lots of uneducated birds RkLu

Monroe.
For example if the teams consist of 8 members it'll probably be an entry of only the best 6 birds. Obviously these numbers will be adjusted depending on the actual team size, once we have all the registration complete we'll know for sure.
We figured it would be best to do it this way so that all the teams have a goods chance to compete. After all not everyone will shoot a bird and if any team(s) have one or two members that don't harvest a bird they'll still have a chance to compete as long as they make their quota of birds to enter with the remaining members being successful.

Ole porter isnt much of a threat from what I hear....other than blowing his toes off.....and I cant help but wander where it is in Tenn that Bullok thinks he is going to get to set his feet to hunt ???.
