Title: Help Identifying Wood

They're both pretty hard but the bottom one is harder than the top.

They play very well, actually the best sounding strikers I've ever run on glass calls especially.

They're made by Alex. I sent him an email to help identify them but I haven't heard back so I figured I'd post them here.

I don't think it's Ipe only cause it's not a very heavy/dense wood, the plain looking one.

Post by: trumpetturner on January 22, 2010, 12:32:21 PM: I would say that the bottom one in the top pic is definitely cocobolo.

I don't know about the top one, could be bocote, but bocote usually turns more brownish colored with age and exposure to light. If the top one has well defined black growth ring divisions, then I would lean towards bocote.

That is a good Possibility. Morodo is what I was trying to think of earlier for the Rosewood suggestion.

And the bottom sure looks like cocobola to me :)
