It's a busy time here in the swamps of Mississippi, but I just had to take the time to show this one off! I was contacted by my neighbors on the other end of Chicken Slough this week. They asked if I could come up with a special Mississippi Scratch Box as a Christmas gift for a friend of theirs who is a turkey hunting fanatic. The beautiful Red Flame Box Elder wood is from my dwindling stash which was given to me by my friend, Randy, back in the summer. I rate box elder right up there with Alaskan Yellow Cedar for that crystal clear sound that comes as close to the voice of a turkey hen as you can get. I was able to match it to a box elder striker, also. I've built a good number of Christmas gift calls this year, and I feel like they will be the downfall of many a wily longbeard.
Merry Christmas from Dixie, to everyone, tonight!Tom
