Tail feather colors are different between the two strutters.  One looks like a Rio versus an Eastern

 I have seen several gobblers (Eastern) that have the red tint to them. A friend of mine killed one several years ago that had the red tint in all his feathers. That is one tough hen w/ one leg. I bet she has difficulties on the limb when the wind blows real hard.

when i was in NE 2 yrs ago there was a one legged hen.. she just hopped around without any problems. i didn't see her last yr though.. That is neat to have a goobler that looks like a rio... *dance*

I have taken a few easterns with unsual color in the tail fan.This gobbler was taken in Northern Ruthfordton Co, North Carolina
