Turkey hunting in the Fall
« on: November 15, 2011, 09:27:21 AM »
I love turkey hunting Spring or Fall.  So of course I was out in the woods the other day hunting turkeys.
In the morning I did a lot of walking and calling trying to locate a flock.  Around noon I went down by the creek and setup against a big oak.
I made a couple of series of kee-kees and kee-kee runs and heard a gobble after each series.
Within a couple of minutes four longbeards came marching in.  The one shown below will be the honored guest at Thanksgiving!
The Creek

The bird            18 1/4lbs.      10 beard        1 1/8 spurs

Funny, I was thinking the same thing...I didn't know if I liked the picture of the creek or the gobbler better.  Nice setting AND a nice gobbler--congrats!!
