Best defensive game I have ever seen. Alabama won the game everywhere but the scoreboard, which is the only place that matters. I find it Ironic that Saban preaches to play for 60 minutes and decides not to play the last 1:48 seconds of regulation.

Funny that you don't have the Honey Smoker clubbing Kirkpatrick as a gif. That would properly show that LSU class.  ;D

I'd feel guilty about that play if it had any bearing on the outcome of the game.  But it didn't..  Miles out coached Saban again, end of story.

LSU out rushed Bama by a large margin.  Ingram was not a factor.  LSU had more redzone visits.  LSU's special teams were better in all phases of the game.

Saban blew his opportunity by continuing to take long FG chances.  Saban knew Maze was hurt and put him in to return punts anyway.  The result a 73 yard punt that turned the game toward LSU.

I wouldn't mind a rematch, but I don't see it happening.  I believe the SEC is the best conference in football, but the only way to prove it is to beat teams from outside of the conference.  Besides, what does LSU have to gain in a rematch?  They already beat Bama at home...

There is a lot wrong with your post but I'll keep it basic. Anyone who has ever played a down of football or understands the game realized that physically, Alabama outplayed LSU. How did Miles out coach Saban? Last year, he did out coach him. This year you have no argument. Saban played to win for 58 minutes. Unfortunately those 5 minutes he played not lose cost Bama the game. LSU fans should be thankful that Miles coached out of character and was not a liability in this game, as he usually is. The long kicks were questionable but 3 points in a game like this are HUGE. In hindsight the way the defense played, he should have punted. In those red zone visits you mention, you did not move the ball. We can sit all day and compare blown chances. Fact is, Bama beat itself. While the LSU defense did play a great game it wasn't about what LSU did or did not do, it's what Bama didn't execute. LSU did have more redzone visits as they played with good field position all night. Alabama had more sustained drives and on two of those long FG drove the ball from inside the 10 down the LSU defenses throat only to shoot themselves in the foot. Again, it's not what LSU did or didn't do.

You're right, Ingram was a non factor as he does not play for Alabama. Trent Richardson on the other hand, went for 160+ all purpose yards. That's hardly a non factor in a game like this. Since you're all about stats, which don't mean a hill of beans in a game like this, I will leave some here. Stats are like swimsuits, they reveal as much as the conceal.

I would pick apart these stats but I'm sure you are good with reading stats as you source them in your previous post. About "out rushing Bama by a large margin", look at the average yards per rush, then look at the attempts.

BAMA:                                    LSU

TOTAL FIRST DOWNS   17       15
TOTAL NET YARDS   295       239
Total Plays                   60       58
Average Gain          4.9       4.1
NET YARDS RUSHING    96       148
Rushes                  31        41
Average per rush          3.1        3.6
NET YARDS PASSING   199        91
Time of Possesion          30:6   29:54

I played football and understand the game full well.  If Bama wants to claim moral victories that's just fine.  Thats been the nature of the Bama program since Stallings retired.  Im sure some irrelevant sportswriter association or newspaper will declare Bama the champion as they do every year.

The scoreboard doesn't lie.. 9-6.  The red zone doesnt lie, Alabama's single visit to the red zone ended with negative yardage.  That's right, just one visit to show for those "sustained drives" and when you got there the inferior LSU defense pushed you back.  To suggest Bama outplayed LSU is not consistent with the the stats or the scoreboard.  Even Paul Finebaum indicted Saban and he's the biggest Bama homer ever.  He called McCarron a clipboard QB not worthy of cracking LSU's top 3 QB's.  These are comments from Bama's own fan base.

Bama has to get over the butt hurt .  Bear Bryant is dead, and scholarship limits will never allow Bama to return to their past glory.

I'm just hoping that the groundskeepers at LSU are watching the trees as I'm sure Updyke is lurking somewhere.
Until next year...

chad, lsu walks away with the victory, but they were outplayed.  both are great teams, but i believe if they played 10 times, bama would win the majority.  my opinion is unbiased and if you look at the game without your purple and gold glasses, you would see that bama was the better team, but were let down by their fg kicker.  like i said, i think those 2 teams are the best in the country and would have no problem seeing either of them in the nc game.

You're a bitter little corn dog aren't you? For you to source Paul Finebaum as anything other than a radio personality is laughable. Secondly, what are you talking about being butthurt ($1 to the mainboard), Bear Bryant and scholarship limitations? The stats show nothing more than it was an even, hard fought game. LSU got the better end of the stick. No excuses and no moral victories. It's funny that a Johnny come lately LSU fan is on here lecturing about polls and moral victories. I've always liked LSU and pulled for them every Saturday and will continue to do so unless they play Bama. I don't know why your taking this as a personal attack. I just pointed out your obvious disregard for any football logic whatsoever and you start with this tirade? Come on, your previous post indicate your smarter than this. What is LSU's excuse for sucking so bad until Saban arrived?

Fact is, LSU won and it doesn't matter that Bama outplayed them, but it's still a fact. I don't understand how any LSU fan would be anything other than thankful to leave Bryant Denny with a win. I said from day one I don't know who will win but it will be real man football. Things happened and Bama gave the game to LSU. LSU played well enough to win and capitalize on Bama's mistakes. BTW, Bama did have several SUSTAINED drives. On all three of those missed FG we drove it down LSU's throat and shot ourselves in the foot with penalties. That's football and it didn't go our way.

For you to say that you could care less about the crap that the Honey Smoker pulled is indicative of the great majority of your fan base and their lack of class. It doesn't matter if it had no bearing on the game, it was a dirty BS play. For you to have played football you either A.) wear your purple and gold glasses proud or B.) you sat on the bench or was a kicker. Either way it was a great game and LSU deserves everything they have coming to them. I hope you guys win it going away unless Bama meets you in NO. Good luck.

I'm fairly certain this guy has eliminated any claims Alabama fans can make regarding percieved class among other programs...

LSU has idiots like any other fan base.  They also have the good fortune of being known as one of the most good natured and welcoming fan bases in the country.  A few members here can testify to that first hand...

On a related note,... a sad, sad, series of events unfolding at Penn ST..

One guy vs thousands. Yes Baton Rouge is a great place to watch a game, and most of your fans are ok.

They should castrate Sandusky and hold Joe Pa and the ginger assistant criminally responsible also.
