a Magnolia and Walnut longbox headed to the swamps
« on: October 27, 2011, 04:49:54 PM »
Been looking for some dry Magnolia for some time and finally got my hands on some. Billy Bobs uncle from Mississippi came up with it. Been playing with this one tuning and she is ready for a run in the woods. It went out today and I sure ya like this one as much as I do. She has a nasty kee kee and a great roll over into quite some rasp on the back of the call. The lid has Magnolia inlays and the body has walnut inlays. From what I learned of the source of the wood--it came from a local legend by the name of Buck. Hope it rolls a bunch for ya friend !!!

I was just at that Hatley address Tue. of this week visiting with ole "Blue Smoke" -- Billy Bob's uncle.  Had a nice visit, and exchanged wood AND calls.  Ole Blue Smoke gave me some of that fine looking  Buck Magnolia and a Myrtle scratch box that I will try to attach on another post.  I don't want to take away from Blue Smokes fine call that he got.  Heck, If I had been there a couple of days latter, there would of have been a WHOLE LOT OF BLUE SMOKE and that beauty would have been amongst the smoke leaving with me.  Fine call, Jeff. *up*

Jake St. John left a nice East of the Slash Cutting Call here when he headed back to the delta.  I had planned to post pictures of it earlier, but Tuesday was movie night and Wednesday was church night, then came the world series...
After my Rangers (and hometown boy Mitch Moreland) clinch the pennant (hopefully) I will post pictures.  That is, if Billy Bob and Joe Bob don't show up again and pirate it away!
