Black Poplar Mississippi Scratch Box
« on: September 26, 2011, 08:14:20 AM »
Well after a long wait. For Tom to find the wood that is. I got me a Mississippi Scratch Box made by Tom Crook aka longbeard48 . Made of the wood which is pretty hard to find. It is made from some pretty Black Poplar. It is a great sounding scratch box. The pictures do not do it justice. It has pretty green/blues hues running in the grain of mostly black color. Plus some subtle cream streaks on the calling lip. It was very hard to try and take some pictures this past weekend with all the rain. When we get some prettier weather I will post up some better pics. Tom thanks for making a great caller. It sure will not be my last. Sorry but some of pics are a little fuzzy.

Mike came up with a tall order!  Last winter I made one black poplar call and used it this past spring to call 3 longbeards to their demise!  I put a picture of it on my website and Mike contacted me and told me how he especially likes dark colored calls.  It took me 5 months to find enough to make two more of them and Mike chose this one from pictures I e-mailed to him.  I put the other one on Ebay earlier today.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/190581520908?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649Mike, I hope that little box seals the deal for you on big ol' longbeards for years to come!
Thanks for the business, buddy!
