Being an old duck hunter and studying under the late Great Jimmy Riddel out of Jackson, Ms. (#207 in the attached collection:
http://www.antiquefishinglures.com/call.htm) how to make and tune his duck calls, I can appreciate the tool dulling abilities of osage. Jimmy never could get the mud cured posts. Most of the Ark. call makers had a monopoly on them. I am attaching my collection of some of Jimmy's calls with a short barrell Lorman thrown in. The one on the far right is my favorite. Mr. Jimmy used for 3 years and I got in 1967. It still is my go to call. It is walnut with osage bands.
Richard if you are making duck calls out of that, I would love to see a few how they turned out.
Thanks,
