Texas A&M to the SEC?

MO to SEC... oh my that is a joke... all the Big 12 teams that are leaving are upset that the Longhorns got a very lucrative package in a sport most of them stink in ... football.  Nebraska left because they were not the dominate team there.  Oklahoma hasn't said much and I figured they'd be irrate... 

The Big 12 is more known for basketball which doesn't bring in the money like football. 

About 5 months ago, MO was looking at jumping to the Big 10 and they never got an offer.  MO would offer zero to the SEC.  Basketball isn't what it used to be and they might be a decent football team this year, but I'm not much up on that..  (sorry Bruce )...  Ok this is coming from a huge Jayhawks fan who's football team really stinks....

I bet you see that big check spit to satisfy the rest of the big 12 especially if Missouri thinks about leaving. Missouri should have went big 10.

I am a FSU fan and uncertain on how I fell about the move. Yes it would be great I could see them play in Kentucky but the ACC is a good conference for them.

Why on earth would Texas share that money? Texas carries the big 12. The big 12 needs Texas, not the other way around. Texas is cashing in and I see them going independent, before they would share their tv deal.

I've read rumors that their buyout from the Big 12 might be as high as 30 million and or the SEC decided to do nothing until after the tuesday meeting with the Texas legislature, SEC, Big 12, and Texas A&M.

what i heard this morning, is that the sec "tapped the brakes", in regards to the invitation.  basically meaning that the sec wants to figure out what is going to happen when a&m meets and that the sec doesn't want to look like they are raiding another conference.  so, if a&m decides to leave, then the sec might then invite them to join up, but probably not before knowing (for sure) who the 14th team would be.

It's not a dead issue. The SEC is just trying to avoid tampering charges in court. Once the House Committee on Education meets tomorrow in Texas then we will know how and if A&M is going to join. Bottom line, the line has been crossed and A&M will not be in the Big 12 this time 2 years from now. I'm willing to bet that by the end of the week an invitation is given to TAMU by the SEC. This is just CYA by the SEC.

Aside from all that, regardless of what happens with TAMU and the SEC college football will not be the same. Texas and their greed will change the game for the worse. I don't understand why SEC people want a mediocre program like TAMU to join? Before anyone spews the TV garbage, I am speaking strictly from a fans stand point. TV ratings do nothing for me as a fan.

For me, the third week of the season when Bama plays Arkansas that games sets the tone for the season for both teams. For UGA and USC it's the game they play against one another. The day those games become less important is the day that the excitement of college football is lost.

it has NOTHING to do with what the fans want, simple as that.  when has any conference, or the ncaa, ever done what the fans want? this is all about money and tapping into other markets, such as dallas, possibly d.c. (with va. tech) and others.  the writing is on the wall and when things starting shaking up last year, all conferences took note.  the sec is doing what is in THEIR best interest, meaning that changes are going to be happening and they want to get their foot in the door first and don't want to be on the outside looking in.  it's a shame that this is going to happen, but it probably will.  and you are correct, the greed of texas is big reason for all of this happening and the thing is, they will probably go independent when it's all said and done.

What will be interesting and why I am interested in all of this is IF TAMU goes to the SEC, there will be one or three more additions.  These additions will come from the Big 12 and/or the ACC.  The ACC not wanting to be left behind in the conference championship game will then raid the remaining Big 12 and or the Big East.  The Big East and Big 12 will no longer exist. College football as we know it is about to change.  Then, what about basketball.  The Big East has many basketball only schools. Will this be the straw that finally breaks Noder Lame forcing them to join a conference?
