I have but one question...why would anyone want to be proficient at producing a "Putt"?? Putting that in the contest call sequence is "alarming"!

putt can be used to get a big gobbler to pop up his head when he is on a hard track chasing a hen..i have used it numerous times.. one could say why not whistle or yell but you never no if they will instinctively fly at that... if you putt all birds will pop there heads straight up and boom...good night...just a simple call contest and putt is a turkey vocalization...we can change to cutt if you cannot putt...

No need to change it for me cause I aint playing anyway. I just can't compete with you guys. Just wondered why the "putt". Thanks for giving your take on that.

The Putt is a funny call in a calling contest. But I can easliy do it. But how can anyone tell a sharp cluck from a putt. The putt or a sharp cutt on a trumpet is pure turkey in sound. Too me only turkey can out do it.

The only way to tell the difference in a putt or a one note sharp cluck in the woods is whether birds are running or not... People often mistake gobblers clucking for putting.  I have had quite a few get in range, to where they know the "hen" was and cluck once or twice.  If she isn't in sight or making a call, he will go the other way.

I am green as a gord with these trumpets, but here is my take of this !!! 
Old Trumpetyelper----guess the most common noise he hears from turkey birds is the "ALARM PUTT."
He probablly has that sound mastered from all the experiences he has had in the past

only time i here the alarm putt is when I use one of those turkey locators.. what are they called again.. BOX CALLS....LOL..LOL...JK.

Sorry you are not having much luck with calling contest. I can do the putt and yelping well on a trumpet or wingbone but the cackling is a hard call on a trumpet.
