Dick Kirby Trumpet Yelper
« on: August 05, 2011, 03:40:57 PM »
Several years ago Dick Kirby came to Deer and Turkey camp in brown county.  Turned out he got a terrible tooth ache and called my brother-in-law Dr. Gekas for help.  Doc brought meds, sterilization equipment, and a dremel tool.  Long story short several hours later the tooth was fixed.  After the dental work we talked turkey and Dick said that his favorite yelper was a Ralph Permar.  Through the next years Gekas and I purchase several Permar calls.  Last year at nationals Chris Kirby offered me this call and I couldn't pass on it.  This was Dick's private call and engraved to match.  I used it all season with great luck guiding a ton of successful hunts..

This is the above mentioned doctor (actually dentist).. he found a company that could make coyote coats for a reasonable price.  over the next couple weekends his truck topper snapped off his truck while driving through a field, his transmission blew up, and when his topper flew off all his supplies scattered in a field all in "legal" pursuit of coyotes.  But we killed 27 coyotes and he was able to get this coat made.  it is actually for his friends wife..
