Osage Roost Membership Question
« on: June 22, 2011, 09:46:20 AM »
Hello.  I've been a non posting member here for a while.  I just like to read about turkey hunting.

I know this in not an ideal first post, and I am not trying to cause trouble, but something has me baffled and I seek your help.

Let me start off by saying that I am not a math or numbers wizard, but I can do basic addition, subtraction, etc.  I was perusing the forum stats this morning and came across the following numbers and it doesn't add up.  What say you?

Total members for this site is 627.  The average registrations per day is 2.05.  The total NEW  members for June 2011 is 444.  I also went through the members list (twice)  and counted the number of members that registered this month and can only come up with 9.  (NINE) How is this possible?

Having built and administrated a couple of these boards, myself, I can highly speculate that these stats are something that the site host has compiled and are nothing that anyone here, including the administrator of this board, can manipulate in any way. So, in answer to your question, you need to be asking this to the host of the site because the formulas churning out those stats are almost certainly not found here.

Even if Porter, this site's administrator, built this site from scratch, this is a question that you need to be asking him in a PM, rather than raising any question of the integrity of anyone here (whether intended or not).

...and you're right --this is not an ideal first post.

I stated my point.  The numbers don't make sense and I'm just curious.  That is all.  I'm not pointing fingers or making accusations, just pointing it out and asking questions.

Geez, after all of the good things I've read about this forum I didn't expect such hostile reactions.

Why don't you introduce yourself X-BOX, so everyone here know's who you are, I reckon, that might clear your first 2 posts up, and why your doing, juz what yer doing.  ;)

I reckon, you wouldn't have a problem with that, now wood YE' ???

By the way, I know who you are.

Well, being a non posting member reading about turkey hunting you should have already seen that the members of this site are pretty fair, stand up guys.  I would think a first post would be something like, "Who makes a good boxcall" or "Here are some pictures from my hunt".  Asking about member numbers and forum stats throws up a red flag in my opinion that trouble is in the making.  If this was not your intent, I apologize but we aint idiots over here.......

Like I said, I'm not trying to start trouble and I'm not accusing ANYONE of being a cheat or an idiot.  I just noticed it and it piqued my curiosity is all.  Guess the saying "curiosity killed the cat" is true.  LOL.

Barefoot was right, maybe I should have pm'd the administrators and inquired with them.  My line of thinking was just wondering if anyone had noticed that.  My apologies to the good members of this site.  If admin sees fit to remove this post, I will have no problem with that.

I have no idea who you are or who you think I am.  And I do not possess the phone number of anyone here.
