Rain Rain go away!!

Well week one done in MO and had a decent week.  Monday called in 12 bearded birds and not a shot was fired.  Tried to get a double with the neighbor and he couldn't get a shot :(  I had two nice longbeards within 20 yards of me and never pulled the trigger. 

After that day, the skies opened up and we have been flooded.  Wet wet wet...  winds and storms.  We are so flooded here in Southwest MO it is not funny. 

I should be out in the woods today, but I cannot get to any of my hunting grounds now :(  Made a stupid mistake Saturday and darn near paid for it with my life.  Never been so scared in my life!  I bet I never cross a rolling stream on foot again!

Have a lot of catching up to do and approving members!  I'm not sure when the end will be in site here! Rain all week  *cry*

It rained an inch and a half here over the weekend and was raining this morning.  Today is opening day and I went to work.  *cry*  I'll save my vacation for next week.

All this rain in the Midwest and South cannot be good for nested birds. This is the last thing Arkansas, southwest Missouri, and southeast Kansas needed.

Rickey I hear you!  The farm I went to Saturday has never flooded the last 6 years I've hunted it.  It's like a swamp now :(  10" of rain has fell already and we have some nasty heavy stuff coming...  how is it your way?  West Plains is a mess and my friend in Branson has pretty much lost his house now :(  It's flooded big time...

I thought about going out today, but I have nowhere to go :(

I hunted in Arkansas the past three days with rain off and on everyday. Our creeks and rivers are rising fast. One guy found a nest with 6 eggs in it. It is suppose to rain hear for the next three days. I would say any nests along a water drainage will be lost. On a positive note, I saw more jakes on my recent Missouri/Kansas hunt than ever. They had a great hatch up there last year. Should be a great bunch of two-year olds next year.

Rickey that is exactly what I have been seeing in Southwest MO and West Central MO too.  Lots and lots of Jakes!  It just started pouring here again...

We have rain here in Pa. all week also just wont stop it seems. We are going to get all that rain and storms ya'll are getting now later in the week. Our season starts Sat. so it could be a wet start.

Porter, we've had good weather but the birds are henned up bad!   I had a jake put on one of the best show's I've seen in years today for over an HOUR!   I don't know who had more fun, me or him.

11 inches and still counting. I found two hen eggs about 50 yards apart and busted. Probably a young hen not knowing how to nest yet and coons.
Same here on Jakes. Called in 4 and heard several others. No long beards as of yet. I think they'll all need web feet to get around?

I had 11 jakes come in together. Never seen anything like it. They came in at full strut gobbling. They circled my decoys and then took turns mounting my DSD feeding hen decoy. They then turned on my alert hen and beat her into the ground. They actually bent the metal stake holding the decoy. I cutt on a box and all 11 gobbled in unison. Not sure a mature tom would have had a chance with this rowdy bunch.

Not if they were brave enough to come in full strut and gobbling. They have already beat down the boss gobbler.

I just talked to some of my family that is a little south of Porter across the MO & AR state line, some are flooded out of their houses and some are flooded in with no way out.

Yall stay safe and don't try to cross anything if you can't see the bottom!!! Better alive and late than swept away and no longer with us  ;)
