I missed a really nice gobbler early on the morning of April 7th, still don't know what I did wrong, I must have lifted my head off the stock. Anyway, I gave it another go that afternoon and was fortunate that I killed this gobbler the afternoon of April 7th. I had 2 gobblers come in and was able to kill this one. I called him in with a Zach Farmer Amboyna Burl caller, and shot him with my little Remington 870 Youth Model 20 gauge. I really like that little gun, hardly weighs anything! Missing sure is a bummer, but getting this bird took the edge off for sure!
He weighed 17 lb, 14 oz, had a beard that measured 8.5 inches, and thick 1 inch spurs. His beard had some rot or something going on, it was thick but broken off at about the 4 or 5" mark. That winds up my Florida season, can't wait to get to Georgia later this month!
