I named this turkey Big Richard...after I found this track...

...I hunted him a few times....he wasn't much on gobbling though...I bailed out on him for a while...Friday afternoon I went back in there and seen where he had been strutting in the woods road...tried to roost him...never could get him the gobble...but went back in there Saturday morning...as expected he didn't gobble...I decided if I hung around long enough we would make contact...I would call every 30 minutes or so....
At 9 AM...I heard him drumming behind my left shoulder...trouble was he was behind a dirt pile in the woods....little later the drumming stopped for a while so I gave him 2 clucks...drumming picked back up and shortly he was looking down the dark end of my barrel...

....
I went out there picked up my turkey and was about to head to the truck....when out of the bushes game a man with a badge....

...."Nice Bird" he said....I said...."Thanks"....He told me he had heard me calling and wanted to know what calls I was using...I pulled them out and showed him....he said,"I heard of that S&S guy....whom made the trumpet?"....I told him "Mr. Hudson"...and said "Would you run them for me?" I did...next thing I know we got more folks...crime scene tape...the works....They said..."we got to take pictures for evidence....".....

I asked "What have I done wrong....I ain't never broke a game law in my life...." They got out the book and went to looking through it and one guy said..."I think it is against the law to use calls that sound this good..."...It all worked out for the best...Al and Richard wired me the bail money...(Al's half was more than Richard's something about Tenn. math)
The bird had an 11" beard 1 1/4 spurs...."I guess it's time to turn out the lights....the 2011 party is over"
